The Need

The need to CONQUER CANCER IN OUR LIFETIME is urgent and important.  Globally, 12.7 million people were diagnosed with cancer in 2008, and 7.6 million died from it.

Closer to home, in Ontario, someone is diagnosed with cancer every 8 minutes.  In 2007, there were 59,500 new cases of cancer and 26,900 deaths.

In 2010, it is estimated there will be 173,900 new cancer cases in Canada and 76,200 deaths.  Cancer at some point touches all families.  Given current statistics, 40 percent of women and 45 percent of men will develop cancer in their lifetime.

The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute is positioned to deliver significant global impact in the war on cancer.
